ART FAIR & TASTE
JUNE 12, 13 & 14 2009
Application
The Central West End Association is pleased to announce The
15th Annual Central West End Art Fair and
Taste, a juried event.
This application is for artist or original crafters wishing
to participate in the event. For booth information for
restaurants and vendors, please go to www.TheCWE.com or
call (314) 771-5110 or email www.cweartfair@mardigrasinc.com.
All juried artists' displays will be located along Euclid
Ave. between Lindell and Washington and on McPherson
between Euclid and Walton in the Central West End.
Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic. The event
is promoted widely in the region including print,
television and radio.
IMPORTANT DATES
May 1,
2009
Deadline for
application, slides & fees. A $100 late fee will be
assessed for applications returned after this date and
prior to the May 22 deadline.
May 22,
2009 Final Deadline for submittal of application.

JURIED SPACES
& FEES
There
are two options for a juried exhibit
1.
$450
for a 10' x 10' space in which The CWEA Art will provide
a 10’ X 10’ white pole tent, one (1) 110V outlet, and
lights.
2.
$250
fee in which the CWE art fair will provide a 10’ X 10’
space you provide your tent and display; electric is
available for an additional $100 charge. Please note
your tent and display must meet all safety criteria as
set forth by the City of St. Louis and is subject to
inspection by the City and festival producers.
All exhibits must be housed under tents
NOT
ELIGIBLE FOR JURY ENTRY:
Macramé, crochet, decoupage, novelties, shell craft,
mass-produced T-shirts, beads, costume jewelry and any
items made from kits or molds.
ELIGIBILITY & RULES FOR JURIED ARTISTS
1.
Participation is open to all artists exhibiting work of
original concept, design and execution.
2.
Artists
must present their work during Art Fair hours, except
when they are being relieved by volunteers.
3.
Each
booth must consist entirely of the artist's original,
juried work. Artwork displayed at the Fair must be in
the medium submitted to and accepted by the jury. The
artist may invite patrons to see the contents of his or
her portfolio, but the portfolio may not constitute any
part of the public display.
4.
Signed
offset reproductions may be offered for sale if held in
the artist's portfolio, but may not constitute more than
75% of the artist's work for sale.
5.
It is
against the regulations to conduct a drawing or raffle,
hawk goods, place advertising materials outside your
booth space or to collect money or solicit pledges for
any cause.
6.
All work
on display must be visibly marked with a sale price.
7.
Artists
are responsible for collecting Missouri State Sales Tax
on all items sold at the Art Fair.
8.
Once
application is accepted, there are no refunds.
9.
All direction from event staff regarding traffic, parking, loading and
unloading must be followed.
CATEGORIES
FOR JURIED ARTISTS
Work may be
submitted in a maximum of two of the following
categories per artist:
Glass Jewelry
Textiles Sculpture
Clay Mixed Media
Photography Watercolors
Acrylics/Oils Drawing/Graphics
NON-JURIED /
CRAFT BOOTHS
Booths are restricted to original crafts made by the
artist. All booths are subject to review and
acceptance.

fee in which the CWE art fair will provide a 10’ X 10’
space you provide your tent and display; electric is

All exhibits must be housed under tents
SECURITY
The
event will have round-the-clock security from set-up to
teardown. The event does NOT carry insurance on
exhibitors or their artwork and other property; artists
must provide their own insurance. Artists are
encouraged to remove their artwork from the exhibition
area overnight.
HOLD
HARMLESS AGREEMENT
I
understand and agree that by submitting this
Application, I am fully responsible for all activity
within my assigned booth space including sales,
liability, security and claims. I will not hold The
Central West End Association, any of it's agents,
assigns, officers, contractors, employees or volunteers
responsible for any loss, personal injury or damage to
my property or my person; or to anyone else or their
property as a result of my own actions, actions of
customers, guests, volunteers or event staff.
I also
agree to release the event, and the above mentioned
organizations from any and all claims arising from acts
of God, riots or weather related issues including the
early closure of the event for any reason. I understand,
that once accepted, there are no refunds.
Also, I
agree to the regulations stated in this application and
understand that violation of any of these regulations
will result in the immediate forfeiture of my privilege
to exhibit and/or sell my work, without refund of my
booth fee or recourse against the Central West End
Association. I acknowledge the right of designated event
staff and/or their designees to enforce these
regulations, and to be the final arbiter of any disputes
or questions.
I
understand that all items for sale in my space are
subject to event producer review & approval. I can not
sell or give away the following items: vehicles, food,
beverages, firearms, drugs, potential weapons such as
knives, billy clubs or guns; inflammable, combustible or
toxic products; or live creatures. Booth space must not
create a hazard or a risk. Exhibitor's booth space and
immediate area around it must be kept clean and left
clean at the end of the event.
The
Central West End Association has permission to use the
name of the exhibitor, slides/art submitted and any
event photos depicting the work of the exhibitor or
booth for purposes of promotion and advertising.

ADDITIONAL JURY INFORMATION
SLIDES/PHOTOS
In each
medium (up to two), artists must submit for jurying
three 35-mm slides or 4 x 6 color photos that reflect
the quality and nature of the work to be exhibited.
Slides should reflect work done within the past three
years.
Submit
only 2" x 2"cardboard- or plastic-mounted slides. Or
color photos. Glass or metal slides will not be
accepted. Please print artist’s name, medium, size of
work and “top” on each slide/back of photo.
Slides/photos of work not accepted for the Art Fair will
be returned only if a SASE, business size (#10)
envelope, with adequate postage affixed, is provided.
The Art Fair will not be responsible for returned
slides/photos lost.
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION FOR
CRAFT
BOOTHS
You must
be specific about your craft(s) and what you intend to
sell and Display. Accepted craft booths will be notified
of acceptance by May 8, 2009.
ABOUT
PROMOTION
This
event is advertised in The Riverfront Times, on
television, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Sauce Magazine,
Alive Magazine and dozens of other publications. In
addition, post cards will be available for artists to
mail out and give out promoting the show. You will be
contacted regarding other media opportunities to help
promote the show and your work.
